No.1 Subway Line and the Loop Line

The first-phase project of Beijing Subway started construction on July 1, 1965. Up to June 2000, Beijing Fuxingmen-Batong Subway Line linked up with No.1 Subway Line and went into operation. At present, the daily average passenger flow reaches 1,639,000. Total length of No.1 and No.2 Beijing Subway Lines is 54 km, of which No.1 line is 31.04 km, running from Pingguoyuan station to East Sihui station with 23 stations; No.2 line is the loop going along Beijing’s old city wall with a total length of 23.61 km and 18 stations.

No.1 Line and the Loop Line Branch of Beijing Subway Group Co., Ltd. was established in March 2003. Our company entered into “Entrustment Agreement of Operation of No.1 and No.2 Beijing Subway Lines” formally with Beijing Subway Operating Co., Ltd. in November 2004, entrusting Beijing Subway Operating Company to administrate operating assets of No.1 and No.2 subway lines. 

No.13 Subway Line

No.13 Beijing Subway Line started construction in December 1999 and put into operation on January 28, 2003. The project is the first rail transit line consisting of mainly ground and overhead railways in Beijing. Total investment of the project is 6.57 billion yuan. No.13 Line starts at Xizhimeng station and ends at Dongzhimeng station, running through the north part of Beijing city in “U” shape. Total length of the line is 40.95 km, of which length of underground railway is 3.47 km, ground railway 26.1 km, and overhead railway 11.28 km, with 16 stations. Daily average passenger flow reached 154,000 in 2005.

Beijing Urban Transit Railway Co.,Ltd. is the owner of No.13 Subway Line. It exercises the functions and powers of owner and is responsible for management of assets of No.13 line.

Subway Ba-Tong Line

Beijing Subway Ba-Tong Line is the east extension of No.1 Subway Line, running, on ground, from Sihui station to Tuqiao station with a total length of 18.96 km, among which length of ground railway is 7.91 km and overhead railway 11.05 km, with 13 stations. The line started construction in December 2001 and put into operation in December 2003. Total investment of the project is 3.4 billion. Daily average passenger flow reached 69,500 in 2005.

Beijing Subway Jingtong Development Limited Company was established in July 1998 and is responsible for investment, construction, and management of Subway Ba-Tong Line and development and utilization of resources along the line. Up to end of 2005, its registered capital was 1.1 billion.
